That signed  Memorandums of Understanding on behalf of the IUT authorized by the Academician, Rector, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Jusufranić, contain an inspirational germ not only of mutual co-ordination with international institutions but also of possible immediate cooperation on concrete projects in the near future, says the news received by the competent EU Commission for Evaluation of Projects within the Erasmus Creative Innovation, which confirms the maturity of academic knowledge and skills of our professors and associates of the International University Travnik.

Namely, in May 2017 a Memorandum of Understanding between the Italian Ecological Research Institute (Ecoistituto;  President – signed by Dr. sci. Gilberto Marzano) and the IUT signed by the rector Jusufranić and with the already existing cooperation of our professor from the Faculty of Media and Communications of IUT, Assoc. Prof. Dr.and Dr. HonorisCausaSabahudinHadžialić with Professor Marzano, who is also Head of Laboratory for Educational Research at the Rezekne Academy of Techonlogies from Rezekne, Latvia (published in co-authorship – 7 authors – from Poland, Latvia, Italy and BiH, a joint e-book in Italy, February 2017. Titled „Introduction to social innovation “- the chapter that is signed by our professor is” Social Media and Social Innovation “).

The logical sequence of these activities was the joint preparation and realization of certain projects, which followed the application, in January 2018. at the Erasmus KA2 – Co-operation for Innovation and the Exchange of Good Practices (sub-grant KA204 – Strategic Partnerships for adult education) with the project “Digital social innovations: new educational competences for social inclusion“. The project was accepted and approved, and the author of a project part related to the activities of our university as well as the project leader on behalf of the IUT is Prof. Hadžialić, an expert for Social media and Social innovations.

Dr. sci. Gilberto Marzano and Assoc. Prof. Dr. and Dr. Honoris Causa Sabahudin Hadžialić

The DSI project intends to support inclusive education and social rehabilitation improving the competences in digital social innovation of social educators and social volunteers. Our project addresses social inclusion through the definition of a portfolio of basic digital competences that are necessary for developing ICT-based social innovation initiatives/services.

More precisely, our project aims to:

a) foster social inclusion improving the competences of social educators and social volunteers engaged in designing/implementing social innovation initiative/projects (Priority: Social inclusion).

b) enhance the support, participation, and learning activities of social educators and social volunteers engaged in inclusive education and social rehabilitation practices (Priority: Extending and developing educators’ competences).

c) improve social inclusions through digital innovation practices, innovative ICT-based methods and pedagogies, as well as online participatory models, where appropriate (Priority: Open education and innovative practices in a digital era).

This project will foster synergies with researchers and professionals through the exchange of good practices between partners engaged in social inclusion activities (4 higher education institutions, 2 NGOs, 1foundation).

Taking into account the EU priorities as well as the priorities of participating countries, the DSI project is in line with the 2011 EU Modernisation Agenda’s priority areas:

  1. Strengthening the links between education, research, and social educators’ professionalization (third sector).
  2. Extending and developing competences that can growth social inclusion
  3. Using open and innovative practices based on digital social innovation, namely the use of technology to satisfy social inclusion needs.

The project will be realized in the period of 24 (twenty-four) months – from the end of 2018. until the end of 2020. and the public of all participating countries: Italy, Spain, Latvia, Poland, Greece, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be informed in time of the implementation and methodology of the project.

This project will also have the involvement of students, not just the professors and associates of the IUT, so that not only students of senior years but also newly enrolled students in academic 2018/19 will have the opportunity to be involved in the surveying process, the opportunity to participate in a comprehensive both scientific and educational process during the realization of the project.

With the example again, it is confirmed that the International University of Travnik is the place from where our educated staff participate equally in EU projects, but also confirm our slogan “For the life full of the possibilites”, because the team lead by one of our professors will have the opportunity, through interaction travel and direct participation in realizing exchange of opinions and innovative practices, to acquire not only new knowledge and skills but also to create new opportunities for generations to come and enroll in studies at the IUT.
