Below you can read the letter sent by Professor Raimundas:

“From May 21 to 25, 2018, I as invited professor from Kazimieras Simonavicius University (Vilnius, Lithuania) had an opportunity to visit IUT in Travnik, BiH. Purpose of my visit was to deliver lectures under the Erasmus+ teaching staff mobility program. Context and topic of my lectures was named “EU Integration Policy and Western Balkan Accession to the EU: Approach to Legal Instruments and Stronger Protection of Human Rights” and it wasintegrated from the subjects of International Humans Rights Law and European Union Law.

During mylectures, a lot of attention was paid to the issues of legal regulation of WesternBalkans, especially BiH, integration to the EU. Actual questionswas presented during my lectures, such as the importance of the application of EU law principles to EU enlargement process, the compatibility of EU law with the legal system of BiH as a potentialcandidate country, the protection mechanism of human rights and security challenges facing the justice system of the BiH state.

A great interest of students and teachers was aroused in the debate about the obligations assumed by the BiH state in relation with neighbourhood countries and with EU Member States regarding application of Rule of Law component and provisions of EU Charter of Fundamental Rights in the enlargement process. I wasvery pleased that this relevanttopic of my lectures attracted a large number of IUT students. Also, I was surprised by their actively engagement in discussions, excellent knowledge in legalsubjects and good command in English.

Since it was my first visit not only to Travnik, but also to BiH, I was impressed by the warm and friendly welcome by staff from IUT international office and other sub-divisions. I convinced that IUT is a modern, innovative and complies with all international parameters applicable to universities. Although my visit was very short, but I have been able to make sure that the IUT environment and the prevailing academic spirit really make it attractive not only not only for students but also for teaching staff too.

During my free time, I had an opportunity to visit interesting and old places in Travnik and Sarajevo, learn more closer about the culture and tradition of the nation, taste wonderful food and other Bosnian dishes. Chevapi, Dolma and BegovaCorba it was my favourite, which I tasted each days. Travnik and Sarajevo is the place to which I would like to come back again”!
